Description

The Strategic Director of Business Segment Optimization will be responsible for supporting the customer-facing operational plan, and growth strategy for both the diagnostic (LabCorp) and drug development (Covance) lab testing business segments. This position will be responsible for working across the enterprise to establish client facing operational and business solutions. This position leverages deep customer insights to provide value-add products and services, which in-turn capture market-share and increase company revenue. This role is highly collaborative working with all levels of leadership and across numerous matrixed teams throughout both the LabCorp (diagnostics) and Covance (drug development) business segments.

This is a remote based position. Location is flexible and candidate can live anywhere in the US.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a network of contacts including functional leaders across various business units and identify new partnership opportunities
  • Work with function leaders, across company to develop market strategies and effectively grow revenue from both new and existing partnerships
  • Implement and lead key operational and business development processes
  • Analyze industry dynamics and the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for expansion and collaboration
  • Be responsible for delivering on major business, operational and revenue objectives
  • Support the development of collaborative relationships and foster an environment of open communication that stimulations a team oriented atmosphere to solve problems and identify new business opportunities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations to advance strategy, culture, talent development, with an emphasis on productivity, efficiency and customer needs
  • Lead development and implementation of the operational strategy to drive broader adoption of LabCorp/Covance collaboration
  • Develop KPIs to support execution of enterprise strategy
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline required, MBA preferred
  • 10 years of in-depth commercial, product management, business development, marketing, operational in the drug development and diagnostic space
  • Thorough understanding of global drug development, the clinical trial management process, diagnostic testing
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional and personal relations with key business partners internally/externally and customers positively impacting business cross across the enterprise
  • Excellent presentation and analytical skills
  • A global innovative mindset with a passion for creation without a roadmap
  • Demonstrated success working in a global, highly matrixed environment with the ability to include without direct authority
  • Proven track record of effectively driving large scale initiatives form a business and cultural standpoint
  • Abilities to review/analyze relevant data so as to build evidence-based strategies
  • Abilities to design/develop effective strategies to bring about project success
  • Ability to combine both scientific and commercial knowledge to meet customer needs and drive synergies across various business units
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with the ability to present and communicate to senior, high leaders, and customers
  • Ability to travel is a requirement with a ~30% of time spent traveling for internal and external meetings
