50% travel will be required for this position

The Phlebotomy Trainerwill be responsible for training all new hires and current staff, including inpatient and PSC phlebotomists, Floats, Site Coordinator and Patient Intake Coordinators, as needed. The Trainer will be expected to remain current in all aspect of the roles for which they are training.

Phlebotomy Training Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate staff training with department supervisors
  • Facilitate training with the use of demonstration and training materials
  • Adapt training approach to meet individual learning styles
  • Provide constructive feedback in a positive and timely manner
  • Observe employee performing tasks and provide immediate feedback to facilitate learning
  • Provide leadership with daily updates on each trainee's progress
  • Complete training forms and other administrative tasks
  • Monitor and report on the overall effectiveness of training; create tools to measure and track effectiveness
  • Make recommendations to leadership on training or workflow processes
  • Serve as a procedural and compliance resource for employees
  • Provide input and updates on training procedures and SOP's
  • Ensure that trainees are competent prior to placement in their site
  • Training topics include but are not limited to: customer service skills, email etiquette, cash collections, wait time reports, and systems such as advanced scheduler, PASS, and TOUCH
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university strongly preferred
  • A minimum of two years training experience
  • Three to five years of experience as a phlebotomist; proficient in responsibilities for In-Patient Phlebotomy and Patient Service Center environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able speak clearly and effectively to all levels
  • Strong ability to teach others based on learning outcomes and able to break down concepts into easily understandable segments; able to teach concepts to a wide variety of learning styles
  • Able to quickly build rapport and trust with others; and get along with a variety of personalities
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective feedback and coaching that fosters learning. Patiently able to redirect learners if needed and provide guidance and encouragement
  • Able to utilize technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, WebEx and other systems
  • Strong attention to detail
