Day Shift, Hours Vary Job Summary
  • Clean fixtures, furnishings, ceilings, windows, walls, dusting, and floors/vacuuming.
  • Use equipment and chemicals
  • Respond to pages
  • Complete cleaning of patient rooms, exam rooms, med rooms, discharges, public areas, etc.
  • Clean and change curtains and cubicles as needed.
  • Collect and dispose of general waste/hazardous waste.
  • Dispense paper products, soap and other supplies as needed.
  • Locking of doors.
  • Collect trash and soiled linen.
  • Report maintenance work request as needed.
  • Clean and restock janitor carts and closets.
  • Maintain cleanliness and working condition of equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Committed to the continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service.  Adhere to the organization's published values.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

License/Registration/Certification Required: 

License/Registration/Certification Preferred:

Minimum Education Required:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Advanced Education Required:  (Associate/Bachelor/Master/PhD level and applicable field of study or related field) or equivalent combination of training and/or experience: 

Advanced Education Preferred:  (Associate/Bachelor/Master/PhD)

Minimum Experience Required:

Skills (Interpersonal and job complexity):  Good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all patient care members, patients, physicians, patient families, and visitors. Inspire confidence from patients, co-workers, and visitors by consistently performing and communicating in a highly professional manner. Good personal hygiene habits and dresses to meet departmental dress code.

Good judgment when applying standards of cleaning in patient areas. Initiates proper procedures when encountering hazardous or blood and body fluid spills.  Follows proper procedures for responsibility when responding to all hospital codes.

Basic computer, data entry, typing, filing and organization skills required.

Abilities:  

Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts and/or extra shifts, various locations, sometimes on short notice.

Environmental Conditions:  Potential exposure to fumes, dust, gases, and odors.   Frequent changes in temperature may occur.  Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases.
