Hours:8 hr shifts during the week with E/O weekend/holiday rotation; shifts start times will vary from 5:00a.m. - 9:00p.m. depending on schedule. Job Summary
Under general supervision, accurately pre-admit, preregister, admit and register patients into Lakeland Health. Gather all necessary socio economic information as well as; verify & confirm insurance benefits and may be required to obtain precertification needed to allow Lakeland Health to provide prompt, courteous service and to be reimbursed for providing said service.
Obtain CHAA certification within 2 years from hire date.• Admit/register all patients promptly and accurately using appropriate, established scripting with a friendly tone of voice and smile. • Will obtain all pertinent socio-economic and demographic information needed and obtain patient/guarantor signatures and complete all required forms for creation of the medical record and billing. • Evaluate and accurately assign appropriate ICD-10 code(s) to outpatient diagnostic services or treatments based on diagnosis, signs or symptoms provided by the ordering physician. • Inform patient/guarantor of payer requirements based on medical necessity and completes appropriate forms. • Assign correct insurance plan to patient accounts. Verify insurance coverage and benefit requirements on Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross insurances. Comprehend and explain third party payer policies and requirements. • Accurately scan/update appropriate documents and cards in the electronic medical record. • Collect payments and issue receipts for services as defined by policy. Maintains control of cash drawer and balances according to policy. • Perform related clerical duties such as answering telephones and using office equipment. • Act as patient transport when required, escorting patients to nursing units, test sites or surgery holding when volunteers are not available. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Committed to the continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service. • Abilities: Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts and/or extra shifts, various locations, sometimes on short notice.
• Environmental Conditions: Potential exposure to fumes, dust, gases, and odors. Frequent changes in temperature may occur. Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases.
