Scope of Job:

Sea Life grounds associates are responsible for air blowing, washing down, and detail cleaning their designated area in SEA LIFE before it opens to guests. Sea Life MCs are expected to finish their routes in a timely manner, stay on task at all times, and follow all safety procedures. MCs should be consistently cleaning every part of their area that is visible to guests, and should be ready to go when they come in for their shift.

Each Model Citizen, regardless of which department they work in or which position they hold, is required to understand and focus on our main guest expectations, which are as follows:
  • As a Guest Service Associate, it is your responsibility to embody and consistently reinforce our Guest Service Core; setting the standard while supporting your staff with the tools and knowledge to be effective in providing memorable experiences. You will act within the department to identify and create new opportunities for MCs to interact with our guests, performing your role while remaining an active participant in our purpose. You are responsible for making the park look good for opening, so that guests will be able to create memorable experiences in a clean, safe environment.

Job Role -

  • Grounds associates perform daily cleaning and detailing of the aquarium's exhibit areas, the café, retail shop and the front and hopper entrance. MCs will also stock each restroom and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the designated storage areas.

Main Responsibilities:

As a Guest Service Associate working in the Initial Presentation Grounds division of SEA LIFE Presentation, you will be responsible for the upkeep of the Aquarium's cleanliness before our operating hours. Associates are required to work as self-starters in a team environment to utilize cleaning tools and equipment to refresh public areas and ensure a visually pleasing and safe aesthetic is maintained for our guests when we open. The job duties and abilities are listed below:

  • Maintains overall cleanliness of the Aquarium before park operation. Tasks vary but include custodial work, sweeping pathways, air blowing, washing down, use of specialized cleaning equipment, etc.
  • Maintains the overall cleanliness of designated restrooms.
  • Able to safely utilize applicable equipment, such as leaf blowers, hoses, litter vacuums, etc.
  • Follows all departmental and park policies and procedures
  • Keeps tools, machinery, and all other company equipment in clean and working order.
  • Follows all training guidelines and safety protocol such as hazardous communications, blood borne pathogens, ride access control, ladder safety, etc.
  • Carries a variety of cleaning tools and supplies while in the Park before operation.
  • Organizes and stocks supplies as needed and communicates stock levels to department Supervisor to ensure stock is ordered in a timely manner.
  • Communicates any operational, guest, maintenance, safety or staffing issues to Supervisor as needed.
  • Able to utilize a handheld radio unit for communication with other department members.
  • Self-motivated and able to efficiently work alone as well as in a team environment.

Background and Experience:

  • Prior experience in a Theme Park setting is preferred.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support park operation.
  • Must possess consistent accelerated leadership abilities.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrable initiative.
  • Custodial experience preferred.
  • Must be capable of training and creating documentation as needed to support the Department.
  • Must have strong problem solving skills and remain dedicated to providing outstanding guest service.
  • Ability to delegate and organize sporadic and long term work assignments while maintaining attention to detail required.

Education:

  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • General computer skills with an average understanding of MS Office.

Other:

  • Must speak English fluently and be able to follow directions written in the English language.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support park operation.
  • The earliest shifts in the Initial Presentation department can begin as early as 4:00am.
