Job Summary

Responsible for converting written material from the source language into the target language, ensuring that the translated text conveys the meaning of the original message accurately.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 1 Year of experience as a medical interpreter or translator.
Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: None. 
Required Training: None.

Essential Functions
  • Produces and reviews translations for quality and accuracy. As needed, will complete edits of translated writing to ensure that quality standards are met.
  • Demonstrates excellent levels of oral and written proficiency in both English and Source/Target Language. Will complete monthly terminology assessments.
  • Translates written text using appropriate translation software to promote the consistency of translations. Projects include:
    • Translation of patient-provider communication through MyChart.
    • Lex Health patient education, EPIC smart phrases.
    • Lex Health Marketing materials.
    • Other projects as needed my department leadership.
  • Utilizes specialized dictionaries, thesauruses, and other reference materials to find the closest equivalents of terminology and words.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates sound research skills to find medical, technical, scientific, and business terms/phraseology in order to find the correct translation.
  • Communicates with the project requesters as needed to assure accuracy and quality.
  • Maintains the fidelity of the original written messages in translations produced, while taking into consideration word meaning, context, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and the intended audience.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and provider communication.
  • As needed or requested by department leadership, may perform duties as an Interpreter.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
