Our core values are compassion, integrity, excellence, teamwork and wholeness.The Emergency Services Technician performs direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced emergency department of a tertiary care facility with level one trauma designation. Provides direct and indirect, age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care in the role of a telemetry technician, patient care assistant, and/or unit secretary under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, and/or Physician as assigned. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or completion of School of Nursing fundamentals required. Completion of Emergency Medical Technician program may be considered in lieu of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. Minimum six months experience as Paramedic transport or patient care assistant experience preferred.Demonstrates competencies in fundamentals of patient care and knowledge of scope of practice for unlicensed healthcare team members. Able to read, write legibly, and speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Outlook, organization electronic medical record) troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform basic patient care activities; relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate; accept direction; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; compose written material; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required. Basic Arrhythmia and Recognition Treatment (BART) certificate required upon hire. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Emergency Medical Technician preferred. Additional Information
