Overview Of Position

This Communications Specialist, Coach & Client Experience (CCX) assists in sharing the voice of OPTAVIA throughout all marketing materials that are tailored to various audiences in OPTAVIA's Community. This position requires excellent writing and proofreading skills, keen attention to detail in writing and our established processes in a fast-paced environment with many critical, overlapping projects with tight deadlines. Strong teaming skills with other cross-functional departments are essential as the Communications Specialist will also assist with the workflow of projects, moving multiple pieces seamlessly to completion with the ability to effectively partner with all levels of our employee base.

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Drafts copy for OPTAVIA media, communications, and marketing materials, demonstrating a deep understanding of both the unique nature of the OPTAVIA business and the special groups receiving communications – Field Leaders, OPTAVIA Coaches and Clients, and the corporate team. (50%)
  2. Maintains strong working relationships and cross-trains effectively with Events, Recognition, and Incentive team, Marketing team, Training team, Client Solutions Center, Enterprise Communication Team, Web team, field, and any external vendors (20%).
  3. Understands, follows, and supports internal/external processes and procedures in areas such as communications and creative copy writing and review. (10%).
  4. Assists with day-to-day editing and proofreading of content for all OPTAVIA communications and marketing materials (10%).
  5. Schedules, tracks, and shares updates during weekly team meetings and manages the overall communication department calendar (5%). 
  6. Offers administrative support (3%).
  7. Participates in local meetings and/or travel to all events, as required (2%).

 

Scope

  1. Coordinates interdepartmental efforts on projects and initiatives.
  2. Actively participates in Field Support/Events/Marketing/Communication/Training meetings.
  3. Solves problems creatively.
  4. Takes initiative to achieve results.
  5. Meets short deadlines. 
  6. Communicates in a strong, positive, and effective manner (written, verbally, and non-verbally).
  7. Establishes and maintains effective internal and external relationships. 
  8. Demonstrates a high level of personal accountability.
  9. Travel as required to OPTAVIA events. 

 

Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism/Mass Communication/Public Relations (i.e., Journalist, Public Relations Account Executive, Broadcast journalist, or advertising copywriter) English, Marketing, preferred OR related work experience.
  • 3+ years' experience in Mass Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Events-related field.
  • Knowledge of traditional marketing disciplines and communication styles, plus new trends such as social media, digital, and event marketing.
  • Computer skills/programs in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Suite
  • Attention to detail and ability to proactively provide solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
