This position supports Mercy#s philosophy of patient centered care by prompt and accurate sorting and filing of internal mail and US postal service mail for patients, physicians and staff. This includes the pickup and delivery of mail, lab specimens, supplies and other items as needed from offsite locations using a company owned vehicle. Job Duties/Essential Functions Job Duties Develops and facilitates good working relationships with superiors, physicians, staff members and co-workers/peers. Contributes in problem-solving activities intra and inter departmentally. Demonstrates flexible staffing needs within department Uses department resources (supplies, equipment) in a cost effective manner Projects competent and caring attitude to clients. Represents the hospital and department in a positive manner. Maintains confidentiality of patients, specimens and records. Inventory and deliver supplies to clients# offices as requested. Serve as liaison between Mercy Medical Center and clients. Receives and disburses medical documentation, medical supplies, films and specimens to appropriate clients. Ensures specimen integrity through the use of designated specimen tracking equipment when made available. Safely drives a hospital owned vehicle to accomplish client visits. Constantly practices good safety habits to prevent on-the-job injuries. Maintains maintenance logs on vehicles as instructed by the department manager. Takes call on a rotating basis to cover evening and weekend pick ups and deliveries. Department Specific Duties Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Read, write and speak the English language. Work with excessive interruptions and be able to handle multiple tasks. Exhibit proper phone etiquette and verbal communication skills. Adheres to department dress code as outlined by department manager. Maintains a smoke-free environment within company property to include its vehicles. Professional Experience No previous experience is needed. Education High School Diploma or equivalent# strongly preferred.# Relevant experience to be considered in lieu of diploma. Licensure, Certification, Registration Valid Drivers License required. Must meet insurability requirements for purposes of utilizing Mercy vehicles - must be at least age#18 required. Must provide and maintain a good driving record, documented at hire, by a copy of a Motor Vehicle Record.
