The role of the Customer Category Manager is to deliver sales, marketing, operations and administrative initiatives related to servicing the tactical and strategic needs of a Regional Customer. The CCM is responsible for maintaining account coverage, analyzing trade budgets, analyzing Nielsen and POS data, and implementing merchandising strategies. This position is accountable for budgetary and financial management of trade promotions involving promotional funds, forecasting, customer payments, deduction resolution and reconciliation of trade budgets quarterly. This position is also responsible for implementing strategic short and long term business plans designed to achieve sales volume and profit goals within spending parameters. The CCM is the key contact with our retail teams to ensure customer merchandising strategies are communicated and properly executed.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic short and long-term business plans to achieve sales volume goals within established trade fund parameters and programs via the AWG base plan

  • Build permanent distribution on designated products to include Plan-O-Gram recommendations and category review. Champion the category management process for the customer by utilizing team and available resources to provide analysis, strategies and presentation support

  • Build customer relationships ensuring open dialogue is always achieved providing foundation for discussion and resolution of difficult business discussions

  • Build relationships with retail teams and ensure they are kept adequately informed of all information required to conduct business

  • Conduct formal business reviews regularly with appropriate levels of management ensuring proper account penetration is achieved and maintained

  • Coordinate and communicate all competitive activity to include competitive pricing promotion, new items, special packs and consumer marketing activities

  • Provides Operations and AWG CBL (Planner) with appropriate input, e.g., sales forecasts, volume trends, allocation breakdowns, product quality problems, market conditions, distribution issues, competitive threats, etc.

  • Effectively assists staff and management, where applicable, in the following tactical areas:

  1. Maintaining and increasing profitable sales volume
  2. Preparing sales presentation and sales information reports, in accordance with CBT objectives

  3. Product knowledge and effective sales techniques

  4. Maintaining product integrity during all phases of distribution and display

  5. Compliance with Mondelez pricing policies



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 20% Travel required
  • 2-4 years experience along with strong sales background with excellent understanding of business processes and systems
  • Extensive knowledge of category and/or Mondelez portfolio specific to category
Financial skills:
  • Strong financial acumen - understanding of profit and revenue drivers and analysis
  • Ability to manage customer financials and impact on the CBT trade budget
Analytics:
  • Strong analytical skills: able to analyze customer, consumer and category data and make business building decisions based off of this analysis
  • Ability to plan, organize and set priorities

Other:
  • Strong negotiation/problem solving skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customer and retail teams, gain trust and respect
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
