Ref: 9446 This 11-mo Teacher on Special Assignment position will support our ongoing efforts to ensure greater access and equity for students with disabilities as a part of the Board's adopted disability access resolution (full text linked here). Core projects include:
- Creating peer-assisted learning (PALS) programs at target elementary schools;
- Ensuring a positive and accessible experience for students with disabilities participating in after-school programming;
- Increasing the number of students with disabiltiies participating in OUSD-sponsored athletics;
- Providing targeted, quality professional learning experiences for general education teachers and staff to ensure all staff are prepared to support the needs of neurologically and physically diverse students.

Oakland Unified has received substantial funding to support pathway programs including tuition and debt relief for selected middle school teachers, Special Education teachers, and for pathway programs, including Classified-to-Teacher, Maestr@s, and the After-School-to-Teacher programs. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree, must be eligible for employment in the US and pass a criminal background check. Candidates must possess, or be willing to earn, a California teaching credential authorizing instruction in core curriculum.
