The Position:
As a Consolidation Manager you will be responsible for productive carrier relationship development and management. Will manage internal processes to exceed customer expectations regarding freight management and on time delivery. Responsible for planning, routing and executing on deliverables for LTL consolidation.
What you will do in this position:
- Optimizing customer orders into shipments the most cost effective way.
- Responsible for staffing, training, evaluating, coaching and goal setting of LTL Consolidation team to meet department goals.
- Research and resolve financial discrepancies in TMS financials.
- Identify patterns with shipper, receiver and carrier performance and recommend actions for improvement.
- Negotiate spot-rate contracts for contracted carriers.
- Leverage carrier relationships to influence capacity awards during tight markets, ensuring customer on-time pick up and delivery expectations are met.
- Utilize the Transportation Management System to fullest potential to facilitate life cycle of orders.
- Establish relationships with carriers to perform pick up services, operate cross dock/consolidation facilities, deconsolidation and delivery services as part of Pooling and Zone skipping strategy.
- Coordinate and direct shipments and deliveries, including shipper to cross-dock, cross-dock to DC, DC to DC,DC to store, etc... to improve customer/carrier equipment utilization.
Qualifications we would like to see:
- Minimum of four years customer service experience within the transportation or logistics industry and/or a related degree.
- Proven excellence in leadership and people skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software, primarily Excel.
- Proficient with basic math skills with aptitude to learn how to calculate mileage as it relates to the passage of time.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
**Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a drug test and/or MVR check, as applicable for the role.
