The Application Development Supervisor - Customer Experience (CX) directly oversees a team of software engineers that develop and support services for Information Technology sub-teams, including Retail Applications and Online Store Team. The Customer Experience team is focused on building services that our commerce platforms utilize to enhance O'Reilly customer experience. Application Development Supervisors partner with internal stakeholders to understand the business and technology landscape of the company as it relates to customer experience services development. The Application Development Supervisor supports the CX team in project planning, requirements gathering, development and support of the software application, as well as establish priorities and assign resources, all with a heavy focus on the team members themselves.

  Essential Job Functions

  • Lead, develop, coach and mentor a team of developers and analysts including performance management, goal setting, hiring, evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Identify team member development and training needs and ensure training needs are met.
  • Ensures team member compliance with company policies and procedures, including but not limited to, Data Integrity, Software Development Methodology, and Project Tracking.
  • Oversees the project implementation of strategically complex and enterprise-wide application solutions.
  • Provides leadership in software development life cycle management (e.g., analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.) to ensure delivery is on time and within budget.
  • Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
  • Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders to set project priorities and influence project scope and timelines.
  • Supporting application projects, upgrades, or new functionality related to O'Reilly mobile applications.

Skills and Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to motivate and manage a diverse population group across different departments and locations.
  • 6 + years of software development experience and/or supervisory experience in an area applicable to O'Reilly.
  • Experience managing project timelines and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Strong Project Management skills with the ability to set targets, design improvement plans, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver concurrent projects in highly dynamic environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a positive customer service orientation with both internal and external customers.

Desired:

  • Two plus years of supervisor experience leading a software development team.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or similar related degrees.
  • Experience with Java, JavaScript, Spring Boot, Solr, and SQL with a focus on delivering web services and APIs.
  • Experience with Planview, Jira, Confluence, Acrobat, direct message tools.
  • Exposure to Agile or ITIL.
  • Experience working in a remote, virtual or work-from-home environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a remote, virtual or work-from-home environment. technical team.

Compensation Range

$90,000.00 - $135,000.00 annually, pay will be based upon applicable experience, training and skills

Bonus

This job is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on individual goal achievement.
