A Senior UI/UX Engineer - Digital Commerce guides the frontend solution components, guide testing strategy and plays an active role in ensuring quality through the development lifecycle for O'Reilly internal and external systems including the B2B First Call Online applications for professional customers. Our Senior UI/UX Engineers are responsible for researching, analyzing, designing, proposing, and delivering solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies. A prospective candidate will be in tune with the ever-changing frontend technology trends, best practices and strategies. They will need to quickly come up to speed on our existing architecture and inter-connectivity with upstream and downstream systems. Our teams are focused on the service architecture, development, design and integration of various software systems, databases, and third-party packages utilizing tools and technologies including Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Essential Job Functions

  • Leads technical design, development, code reviews, and product feature enhancements to interactive web based applications.
  • Guides design sessions with visual designers, application developers and other technical team members.
  • Researches and recommends UI components and capabilities to enhance the user experience.
  • Leads conceptual and technical solution design for assigned features improvements to meet business requirements while ensuring compliance with established architectural principles, standards, and processes.
  • Liaisons with information architects and designs to finalize the usability and feasibility of interface designs.
  • Creates seamless processes for the team by establishing standards and frameworks for effective and efficient integration.
  • Communicates complex technical issues in a clear, simple understandable way.
  • Performs hands-on configuration and development as needed, and roll-up your sleeves to resolve technical issues.
  • Present opportunities and risks at a project level and companywide. Ensures overall technology best practices are met.
  • Expertise in: JavaScript, VUE, HTTP, API design, browser-based application profiling and optimization, the DOM, various testing methodologies.



  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 6+ years of frontend development experience in JavaScript development preferably with several years of VUE experience.
  • Understands how to establish the value and cost of an IT project.
  • Advanced understanding of change management control process and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices of the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, testing.
  • Experience in effectively communicating complex technical concepts with a broad base of end users and multiple management layers, including the ability to interact with vendors as needed.


  • A bachelor's of science in a technology related field.
  • Server-side Java/JS frameworks based on Node.js.
  • Experience working in DevOps including continuous integration and continuous deployment using technologies like Git, Jenkins, Postman, Bitbucket, Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Experience working in a remote, virtual or work-from-home environment.

Compensation Range

$80,000.00 - $125,000.00 annually, pay will be based upon applicable experience, training and skills


This job is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on individual goal achievement.
