Currently, we are seeking a talented Operational Risk Management (ORM) Systems Manager to join the Corporate Division in Newport Beach, CA. The Corporate Division supports the goals and initiatives of all other divisions throughout the company and its subsidiaries. These departments include: Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Corporate Development, Public Affairs, Safety & Security, Legal & Compliance.


The primary goal of operational risk management (ORM) is to help the business manage risk of loss resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes and controls, people, systems or external events. Pacific Life is beginning an implementation of RSA Archer as an integrated risk platform (IRP) across all risk-related areas – Internal Audit, Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR), Compliance, Information Security (ISO), Business Continuity (BCO), IT Risk, Third Party Risk (TPRM), and all other Operational Risks. This role will play an integral part in the implementation and ongoing utilization of IRP at Pacific Life, managing a systems administers/analysts (vacant), and leading collaboration across all IRP stakeholders. This is an opportunity for an experienced risk management professional to bring their expertise to help Pacific Life maximize the benefits of a common platform for risk-related data and processes. This position will report to the Director - Operational Risk Management within the Corporate ERM department. This position is expected to be an subject matter specialist on IRP and risk areas' utilization of the system (e.g. for ORM).

Responsibilitites include:
•Collaboration with, and alignment of, departments utilizing IRP as the main toolset. Specifically for 2019, coordinating ORM with ICFR, ISO and TPRM to ensure these high priorities use cases are successfully implemented. This will involve working directly with the project manager, project sponsor(s), implementation partner, vendor and internal stakeholders.
•Day-to-day responsibility for IRP System, including platform integrity, system support, vendor coordination. Throughout implementation, coordinates activities with project manager and implementation partner assessing and utilizing the most appropriate resources for tasks.
•IRP workflow and configuration owner for ORM across all operational risk areas including third party and model risk management
•Input to IRP steering committee, prioritizing backlog of work
•Directing reporting workload to analyst(s), including aggregating ORM reports for risk committees
•Directing system configuration workload to technical system administrator(s)


•7+ years relevant experience across RSA Archer, providing both technical and functional leadership
•Experience of ORM frameworks, three lines of defense model of risk management, and how related workflows are configured within RSA Archer
•Experience managing and developing technical team members, such as systems administrators and analysts, proactively cultivating innovation in an effective team environment
•Possesses excellent customer service, critical thinking, research and analysis skills
•Possesses business process experience & acumen
•Ability to quickly distill complex information, incorporating new ideas and opinions
•Ability to work collaboratively, communication effectively and influence stakeholders in a matrixed environment
•Courageous in supporting ORM, IRP and Pacific Life company principles, avoiding work-arounds
•Expert (and fast) written communication and analysis skills (utilizing MS Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
•A general knowledge of life insurance and/or retirement solutions is an advantage, or from another financial services organization
