Responsible for high quality, effective management of patients including accurate data collection and use of protocol treatment measures, timely and thorough communication with nurses, paramedics, physicians, field and hospital personnel to ensure safe and effective services.
Education:
-Must be a graduate of an EMT-Paramedic program.
-Prefer UT Southwestern Medical Center Dallas EMS Program.

Experience:
-Must have one year of experience in a pre-hospital and/or emergency care services environment.

Equivalent Experience:
-None

Certification/Registration/Licensure:
BioTel:
-Must have current EMT-Paramedic certification from the Texas Department of Health.
-Must maintain current paramedic standards with UT Southwestern Medical Center/Dallas EMS Program.
--Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following:
oAmerican Heart Association
oAmerican Red Cross Rescuer
oMilitary Training Network.
Jail Health:
-Must have current EMT-Paramedic certification from the Texas Department of Health.
-Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following:
oAmerican Heart Association
oAmerican Red Cross Rescuer
oMilitary Training Network.

Skills or Special Abilities:
BioTel:
-Must be able to develop and maintain knowledge of BioTel Medical Control System, the Dallas Fire Department, all other area Fire Departments under the BioTel Medical Control System, Trauma Protocols, EMS Protocols, and BioTel Protocols for therapy and pre-hospital care.
-Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of pre-hospital, hospital, and medical staff.
-Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of standard pre-hospital procedures and techniques and appropriate regulatory guidelines.
-Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of the BioTel equipment system.
-Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.

Jail Health:
-Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of staff to include registered nurses and Sheriff's Department personnel.
-Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of standard procedures and techniques and appropriate regulatory guidelines.
-Must be able to work effectively under pressure.
-Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued.
