Position Summary

PMA is currently seeking Construction Managers to support major infrastructure projects in and around Los Angeles County. Duties include the following:

  • Managing, overseeing, and coordinating all facets of construction, including mobilization, construction, and closeout.

  • Planning, organizing, directing, and reporting construction management activities and progress to upper management.

  • Coordinating with public agencies during construction to comply with off-site work.

  • Managing both the project budget and schedule to meet qualitative standards.

  • Performing day-to-day contract administration, including assisting senior project managers in bid analysis, preconstruction meetings, and related award-coordinating activities.

  • Reviewing initial contractor construction schedules, submittals, and schedule of values, and responding to contractor inquiries.

  • Managing and coordinating project teams and contractors in communicating directives and ensuring the project scope is built according to plans, specifications, and cost limits.

  • Reviewing submittals from contractors to ensure specification requirements are met.

  • Obtaining responses to requests for clarification from contractors and keeping a log of such requests.

  • Negotiating with contractors to achieve a fair and reasonable cost for change orders and reviewing their impact on the project.

  • Reviewing payment applications and performing fiscal management of project resources.

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in construction management on commercial and/or public facilities required.

  • BS or BA in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management, or a closely related field. Additional qualifying experience of 4 years in excess of the minimum stated above may be substituted for the required education.

  • Experience with aviation, education, public works, or transportation projects preferred.

  • Experience utilizing building information modeling (BIM), in energy and environmental design (LEED-certified) projects, and/or with the Division of the State Architect preferred.

  • A current professional engineer or architect license in the State of California or a valid construction manager certification credential from the Construction Manager Certification Institute preferred.
