Description

The Laboratory Manager will provide research and administrative support to the laboratory in a variety of ways. Responsibilities include ordering laboratory supplies, arranging service for the maintenance and repair of lab equipment (thermocyclers, pH meter, centrifuges, Illumina MiSeq, shakers, incubators), and monitoring the spending of different grants. The Laboratory Manager will organize lab activities including maintaining the laboratory calendar of meetings, organize laboratory lunches, reserve rooms for meetings, and provide general administrative support including managing lab accounts, completing forms regarding laboratory safety and processing reimbursements. Will also supervise the activities of the Laboratory Helper in the making of culture media, waste disposal, consumables storage and laboratory cleaning and will prepare reagents following established protocols: competent cells, Gibson mix, PCR mix and electrophoresis buffers.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in science and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required; educational emphasis in life sciences preferred. Must have previous laboratory experience in either microbiology or molecular biology and possess strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite products and web-based applications and be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
