Description

Acting under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic performs a wide variety of duties, the purpose of which is to repair, maintain and/or enhance the physical operation of the facility and its components.

  1. Mechanical to apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general mechanical maintenance. Such duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Repair of beds, hand controls, and pillow speakers.
  2. Remove and/or replace small motors.
  3. Repair of medium appliances and/or machinery.
  4. Repair of building elements and/or furnishing.
  1. Electrical to apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general electrical maintenance. Such duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Change and/or repair switches, outlets, and plugs.
  2. Change lighting tubes, bulbs, and ballasts. Performing these duties may require a high reach ladder or lift.
  3. Perform electrical safety checks of hospital and patient owned equipment.
  4. Replace TV s
  1. Perform basic troubleshooting and repair of small to medium electrical equipment, i.e. contactors, motor starters, timers, etc.
  2. Performs Life Safety checks on exit signs, fire extinguishers, egress lighting, egress exit devices
  1. Plumbing to apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general plumbing maintenance. Such duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Rebuild and/or replace plumbing fixtures such as flushometers, faucets, filters, etc., to include stems, washers, seats, etc.
  2. Unclog drains and lines of sinks, toilets, bedpan flushers, ice machines, refrigerator units, etc., by the use of hand plunger and/or power snake equipment as needed.
  3. Solder of copper pipe/pro press water and feed lines, as well as black pipe layout and fabrication.
  1. Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning to apply knowledge of and demonstrate advanced competency in general HVAC/R maintenance. Such duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Clean and/or replace filters as needed.
  2. Adjust and make repairs to individual heater/AC units.
  3. Basic diagnosis and repair of AC refrigeration units.
  4. Performs maintenance as well as PM on large HVAC/R equipment, i.e. bearings, belts, motors, and lubrication.
