SAGE Therapeutics is searching for an experienced leader for a highly visible role as Associate Director, Supply Chain. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for overseeing the clinical and commercial supply chain for products across Sage's portfolio. The successful candidate will lead global clinical and commercial logistics operations, commercial supply operations planning and inventory management, procurement and financial planning, and management of services and supply agreements.
Roles and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Leads global clinical and commercial logistics operations including the build and implementation of processes to qualify and manage domestic and international shipments of raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), drug product, and finished goods
Leads and actively manages all aspects of Third Party Logistics (3PL) provider operations including distribution and inventory management while working closely with Finance, Commercial, and IT teams to ensure accurate reporting
Oversees all aspects of commercial drug substance, drug product, and finished goods supply planning, capacity planning, and risk management for Sage's commercial products
Partners closely with Finance to oversee an inventory management system and participate in the selection, build, and implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
Manages and develops processes for procurement operations and financial reporting for Technical Operations
Leads and facilitates the Sales and Operations Planning process across commercial programs
Oversees management of Master Services Agreements (MSA), supply agreements, confidentiality agreements (CDA) for Technical Operations and collaborates with Legal and Technical Operations to develop, negotiate, and maintain contracts with partners
Provides input and data for Regulatory filings
Actively communicates, collaborates with, and contributes to other functional areas including Commercial Operations, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, CMC, Finance, and external partners and drives to achieve the best business results for the company
Provides support to CMC in commercial and R&D programs
Participates in the Supply Chain team and supports clinical and commercial labeling and packaging activities, as required
Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills
The successful candidate has a broad experience and proven track record in pharmaceutical supply chain management including global logistics, planning, procurement, financial reporting, and contract management. Broad experience of GMP operations and a proven track record of successfully leading and contributing to cross-functional teams are key requirements. International experience is a plus. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across levels, functions, and organizations in a fast-paced environment as well as a proven ability to execute and contribute strategically to achieve results in a virtual setting are a must. Other requirements are:
Bachelor's degree in a technical, scientific or business administration discipline
5+ years of relevant supply chain experience in the pharmaceutical industry
Experience in global logistics, supply planning, financial reporting, and contract management
