Sage Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated, innovative, collaborative, resourceful and results oriented Manager, Research Operations & Project Management to support operations and project management initiatives within the Sage Research Operations Organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for operational aspects of: project management, vendor diligence, procurement/contract management, and other department-related activities. In addition, ensure collaboration and alignment between the Research functions, initiative and/or project, and senior leadership within the Research organization. Experience in discovery research, preclinical development is preferred. Project and/or operations management experience will be required to manage and execute the needs of our scientific teams. This position will report to the Associate Director, Research Operations.
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsible for partnering with research teams to determine project plans, schedules, and delivering on execution
Responsible for driving day to day operational and project management aspects and oversight of a portion of the research portfolio and corresponding academic alliances
Responsible for coordinating and supporting departmental and/or scientific advisory meetings. In addition, conduct relevant follow-ups to sustain stakeholder engagement.
Responsible for a portion of research business operations including contract management, purchase order management, financial management, and monthly accruals
Proactively monitors vendors and alliance partners for contract milestone adherence and continuous improvement
Provide research vendor management support, including but not limited to: representation and evaluation of the research vendor management landscape, performance and business oversight of active vendors, and evaluation of potential new vendors
Responsible for contributing to research operations knowledge management: tools, content, and capture
Experience, Education, Specialized Knowledge & Skills

Requisites include excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, an ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management and negotiation skills, as well as an ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and recommendations. A demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action, an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way, and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks is also required.
4+ years of experience in a drug discovery organization or project/operations management-based role
Knowledge of the drug discovery process from target identification through lead optimization preferred
Demonstrates commitment in addressing issues and bringing them to resolution
Experience in contracts management, project management, business relationship management with internal and external partners
Basic understanding of financial aspects of outsourced operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced innovative environment with competing tasks
Must have a strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and successfully in a matrix environment
Ability to function in ambiguity and propose viable solutions
Strong communication skills and problem-solving talents
