Responsible for managing the daily operation of sterile compounding areas. Ensures the most appropriate medication therapy is provided to all patients and that patient safety is maximized. Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement programs, reviewing policies and procedures, overseeing sterile compounding staff training, and ongoing staff education. Assists director and assistant directors in the performance of their duties and the fulfillment of their responsibilities. Acts as a resource to staff in the completion of their duties.
Ensures that the pharmacy sterile compounding areas, devices, supplies, and personnel are in compliance with USP Chapter <797> and USP Chapter <800> regulations as well as NJ Board of Pharmacy regulations.
- Completion of course at an accredited School of Pharmacy, with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD.
- Registration in New Jersey as a pharmacist; current New Jersey licensure required.
- Minimum three years of hospital pharmacy experience.
- Completion of hospital pharmacy residency and/or advanced pharmacy degree preferred.
- Working knowledge of USP Chapter <797> and USP Chapter <800> regulations.
- Understanding of role of pharmacy within the hospital, namely its interrelationships with other departments and functions.
