Full Job Description

San Diego Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists is seeking an energetic Physician Assistant to join our Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery practice. The Physician Assistant evaluates, plans and provides care for patients in consultation with and under the direct supervision of attending physicians.


  • Independently perform minor procedures such as cerumen removal, removing sutures, incision and drainage of abscess of the head, face, or neck, intra-tympanic injections, etc.
  • Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care.
  • Code and bill accurately per established protocol and procedure.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate education to increase the knowledge of patients, patient families, and others.
  • Train other staff in areas of clinical expertise.
  • Provides assistance in surgery and in-office procedures.
  • Provide post-operative rounds and discharging of patients at the hospital.
  • Considers health care access, fiscal responsibility, efficacy, and quality when providing care.
  • Advocates for a culture of safety for patients and patients rights.
  • Maintains confidential medical records. HIPAA compliant.
  • Covers all primary night and weekend calls which can be split with other PAs in the practice.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Perform patient assessment to obtain a complete and accurate record of the patients clinical information and medical symptoms.
  • Order tests and exams to obtain additional information needed to ensure proper and complete care of the patient.
  • Based on the assessment, diagnose patient needs and determine a plan of care. Interpret patient care tests and exams to obtain needed information to guide care.
  • Utilize advanced specialty knowledge to ensure that the care provided is appropriate, effective, timely, and cost-efficient.
  • Perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures as defined by Scope of Practice.
  • Selects, analyzes, and interprets relevant data to develop a plan of care that meets individual patient needs, is age-specific, and reflects professionally recognized standards of care.


  • Ability to multi-task and work as part of a patient care team.
  • Knowledgeable of medical terminology and other medical records maintenance procedures.
  • Possess strong communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, physicians, management, and clinic staff.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate actions in questionable or emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records.
  • Skilled in the development and maintenance of quality assurance practices.
  • Stay abreast of current trends in healthcare practice and participate in continuing medical education to ensure optimal clinical knowledge and effective patient care.
  • Network with referring providers and external representatives.


  • Education:Graduate of an AMA accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Experience:At least 2 years of experience preferred in ENT
  • Current unrestricted license to practice as PA in California
  • Maintains American Heart Association BLS certification
