The Global Brand Lead Legacy Portfolio will be responsible for maximizing the legacy Oncology portfolio of Sanofi Genzyme, with a worldwide turnover of >$1.8bn. It includes responsibility for 10 marketed products with main focus on Jevtana, our flagship product for Prostate Cancer, an additional focus on Zaltrap, Mozobil and Thymoglobulin.

This role will be responsible for driving the revenue growth and profitability of the portfolio. This includes effectively managing the continued growth of Jevtana and transition through the loss of exclusivity, defining a mid-term strategy for Zaltrap and exploring opportunistic and regional opportunities for the portfolio (e.g. in China)

Managing the business to optimal performance will require strong leadership and exceptional commercial acumen and entrepreneurial skills to build novel approaches for a mature portfolio.

Additional responsibilities will include managing the increasingly challenging access environment, the increasing importance of strategic alliances, the regulatory approval process, an increased focus on compliance and increasing public relations issues for the pharmaceutical industry. Addressing the latter market forces while simultaneously increasing the competitive position of the company and balancing multiple risk factors will be a significant opportunity for this leader to have impact.


  • Commercial:
    • In partnership with the key markets (US, EU5, China, JP) and relevant emerging markets, ensure all elements of the plan are designed and executed with precision and excellence.
  • Strategy and Plans:
    • Develop and deploy strategies to achieve business goals, maintain/improve sales, profit, market share and cash flow consistent with goals of the BU and the long term strategic plans of the company;
    • Lead marketing teams to include a thorough and well-coordinated input into brand strategy and ensure close integration and flawless execution of marketing strategies and tactics in field;
    • Support strategic portfolio development activities for the business;
    • Develop customer/channel marketing strategies to position products and create value for the company and patients/customers.
    • Build account management capabilities to defend and improve market position and depth of access by delivering strong, trust-based relationships with customers and stakeholders;
    • Define training requirements and ensure training development of sales and marketing teams.
  • Deliver the Numbers:
    • Achieve sales, profit and market share within agreed budgets.
  • Monitoring and Control:
    • Monitor and review business performance of sales and marketing teams and ensure management actions are taken to secure adherence to agreed plans;
    • Ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness of all aspects of the business;
    • Manage budget to highest impact opportunities.
  • External Relations:
    • Ensure promotional activities are in compliance with guidelines and regulations;
    • Develop and strengthen strategic relationships with customers (e.g. physicians, group practices, pharmacies, KOLs and payers) in the therapeutic area to support medical and commercial activities in alignment with compliance guidelines to ensure continued premiere status of the company.
  • People and Organization:
    • Lead a team of marketing directors and closely work with all regional heads.
    • Provide personal leadership to inspire and motivate teams to continuously strive for excellence;
    • Creating a winning spirit and by developing excellence-oriented and customer-focused culture, fostering innovation and new approaches.


  • Undergraduate degree in business or science or related discipline required. An advanced degree (MD or MBA) is preferred;
  • A seasoned and well-rounded executive with at least 10 years of demonstrated success in a variety of marketing, sales leadership and general management roles of progressively greater scope and responsibility;
  • Experience building and leading a pharmaceutical/biotech commercial organization within marketing responsibilities and successful general management experience preferred;
  • Proven command of classic marketing disciplines and techniques and extensive sales leadership experience;
  • Demonstrated success in aggressively growing and managing products through their life cycle;
  • A demonstrated commitment to innovation. Prior experience leading significant transformational change while simultaneously managing on-target business unit performance;
  • Proven skills in communicating changes, managing design and implementation, applying innovative thinking and aligning plans, people and processes;
  • A strong business orientation and the ability to view issues from multiple functional perspectives;
  • Experience working collaboratively and cross-functionally with marketing brand teams, market research, sales, managed markets, sales operations, medical affairs, business development, regulatory, research & development, manufacturing, finance and legal;
  • Experience establishing and managing strategic relationships, such as joint ventures, co-marketing agreements and development partnerships. Has well-developed implementation skills and experience with post-acquisition integration;
  • Exceptional leadership skills with proven ability to develop next generation leaders; excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to interface seamlessly with other parts of organization;
  • Holds self and others to high degree of integrity, ethics and accountability.
