We are looking for an Operations Manager to work beside and lead a team who will provide superior rail switching and transloading services to our customer in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. The successful candidate must be team oriented, have strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for detail to ensure safe and efficient railcar switching, loading, and unloading services in our facility.

What you will be doing

  • Leadership of a team with a “Hands-on” approach
  • Ensure procedures and policies are followed by all operation Team Members
  • Oversee and participate in railcar switching, loading, and unloading services
  • Vigorously explores potential business opportunities, including:
    • cold calls; meeting set-ups; facility tours
  • Manage the financial aspect of the Savage System (Budget, Projections, Dailies, & Variances)
  • Implement the Savage Safety Program
  • Ability to provide leadership to each Team Member by teaching and training them in the following areas:
    • Problem Solving and Decision Making
    • Safety and Environmental Compliance
    • Compliance with Operational Processes and Procedures
    • Maintenance Planning and Completion
    • Professionalism and Cleanliness
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors
  • Aptitude and proficiency for computer operations

Requirements of a successful Operations Manager

  • Experience in leading a team in railcar switching, loading and unloading, and minor preventive maintenance
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to learn to operate locomotives, and railcar loading and unloading systems
  • Ability to understand and manage railroad operations and safety
  • Has computer skills including Microsoft Office, office organization and administration
  • Ability to plan, control and organize operation to meet each customer's unique needs and to maximize effectiveness

What we need from you

  • 2 years of college education preferred
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Physically able to climb up and down railcars/ladders safely
  • Experience with successfully leading a diverse group of people
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Must be able to climb steps and ladders
  • In good physical condition (able to walk  + two (2) miles per shift)
