ResourceMFG has a QC Supervisor opportunity available within the cosmetic industry in Newbury Park, CA.

Hours: 7am – 3:30pm + overtime and weekends

Pay: DOE

Monday – Friday

Fulltime – direct hire opportunity

Position Title: QC Supervisor/Manager Reports To: Director of Quality General Description: The QC Supervisor/Manager is responsible for supervising the operation of the Bulk QC Laboratory and the Raw Material Laboratory, and the personnel responsible for performing physical and analytical tests on in-process bulk material and incoming raw materials, as well as microbiological testing. Responsible for ensuring adherence to procedures and processes, conducting non-conformance investigations, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Management of QC Bulk Lab

  • Ensuring in-process and final bulk material in conforming to specifications and standards
  • Issue and approve batch adjustments, re-works, and remediation of OOS material
  • Supporting production schedule by releasing bulk and obtaining customer approval where necessary
  • Analyzing water samples and providing trend reports for quality management
  • Conduct investigations for non-conformances, including records review, material testing and lab batch preparation to determine root cause
  • Set personnel schedules to ensure quality team support for production activities
  • Assist in providing cross-training for team members for scheduling flexibility and professional growth

Management of the Raw Material Lab

  • Ensure robust systems and processes in place to verify the quality of raw materials for the use in production batches
  • Maintain visibility to scheduling demands to ensure materials are released and available in the system to meet production scheduling needs
  • Investigate non-conformances and out of specifications prior to raw material release
  • Assign resources as needed to support department activities and work load demands
  • Issue deviations and non-conformance reports when needed

Microbiology Lab

  • Oversee the microbiologist and related job functions
  • Support investigations relating to microbiology testing (material, water, environment) to improve quality systems
  • Ensure lab remains operational to support production needs for product release
  • Provide initiatives for continuous improvement of processes

Equipment and Technical Duties

  • Working knowledge of and ability to provide on-going training and best practice for lab equipment; pH meter, viscometer, TOC, conductivity meter, FT-IR, densitometer, pycnometer, micro TPC methods
  • Maintenance and servicing of lab equipment
  • Provide technical assessment summaries and leadership to resolve technical issues
  • Train new personnel on laboratory procedures
  • Ensure laboratories are compliant with company SOPs and procedures, and ensure compliance with GMP/GDP and FDA guidelines
  • Performs related functions and duties as assigned by management


Job Requirements

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Degree in Biology or Chemistry is required
  • 5+ years QA/QC Laboratory Experience or Similar
  • Previous experience working for a cosmetic manufacturer is preferred
  • Experience as supervisor or lead
  • Must have excellent communication skills
