Position Summary:
Responsible for the mechanical design of new firearm products, and improvements to current products. Assist Process Engineering & Production as required to resolve issues and improve current products and the implementation of new/revised products. Must be able to provide technical leadership and coaching to New Product Engineers, Process Engineers, Production personnel, Marketing and others to accomplish the tasks below.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
*Develop innovative Firearm Products to meet company goals.
*Contributes technical leadership to R&D projects in a team setting to meet project cost targets and delivery dates.
*Manage tolerance stack-ups and functional interface between sub-systems.
*Conduct FEA analysis, and other numerical simulations as required.
*Supervise and process complete systems thru the PLM system.
*Develop verification test plans, check the accuracy of test results and conclusions.
*Responsible for the manufacturability and overall cost of complete firearms.
*Responsible for applying industry best practices for manufacturability with traditional machining, as well as additive manufacturing.
*Design Checker for other engineers in R&D
*Technical Ownership within the SIG NPI process (New Product Introduction).
*Drive Continuous Improvement in technical information (i.e. process records, model drawings, SOP's, tool and fixture drawings) as needed to evaluate and support product design operations.
*Provide leadership in documenting and understanding the process capability of critical suppliers.
*Provide technical assistance to other departments within Sig Sauer.
*Responsible to ensure the resolution of manufacturing problems addresses the root cause of the problem.
*Must be able to travel.
*Participates in and sustains 6S Standards.
*Engages in and actively volunteers for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
*Miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. (10-15+ years' experience).
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
*Must be a skilled user of CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, and a have experience with Microsoft Office Tools. Experience with Agile PLM and MS Project is a plus.
*Classwork and practical experience with mechanisms and machine design.
*Experience using and maintaining firearms is preferred.
*Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
*Ability to write reports and procedures, and effectively present information to team members and management.
*Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
*Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
*Ability to manage uncertainty in a logical and organized manner.

Working Conditions:
*Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
*Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
