Test Technician II is a mid-level technician who executes test plans to test firearm and weapon systems. Test Technician II is chiefly responsible for supporting test plan execution, including measuring weapon characteristics, evaluating weapon and accessory performance on the user-level, and documenting test data.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
*Basic knowledge of all SIG SAUER product lines, including firearms, optics, ammunition, and accessories.
*Ability to execute test plans, to include safe discharge of firearms, according to standard operating procedures and direction from Test Supervisor, Test Engineers, or Test Manager.
*Pistol accuracy - ability to regularly shoot a 5-shot 4” group at 15 yards using a rest.
*Rifle accuracy – ability to regularly hold a 5-shot 1/2” group at 100 yards using a rest.
*Ability to diagnose weapon malfunctions and effectively report their frequency, cause, and mitigation.
*Familiarity with TOP and NATO testing standards.
*Must be able to pass assigned pistol and rifle usage training at SIG SAUER Academy.
*Ability to disassemble, clean and reassemble test weapons.
*Ability to be trained to operate range equipment, measuring tools, fixtures, and other instrumentation.
*Ability to follow documented safety protocols, procedures and direction from the Range Master.
*Ability to enter test data in standard formats using Microsoft Word and Excel.
*Ability to report test results using Microsoft Outlook.
*Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the range and facilities as directed.
*Report incidents, near-misses, and opportunities for improvement to management.
*Interact professionally with other business units to support customer trials and approval tests.
*Must be able to travel infrequently.
*Participates in and sustains 5S Standards.
*Engages in and actively volunteers for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
*Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
*Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Test Technician in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
*CPR and First Responder or possess the ability to become so.
*Basic computer skills.
*Familiar with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
*Fast-paced environment requiring a high level of situational awareness and attention to detail.
*Routine lifting of more than 40 pounds.
*Mixed working environment to include indoors and outdoors in variable weather conditions.
*Exposure to lead.
*Exposure to loud impulse sounds, i.e. weapons discharging.
*Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
