The Enterprise Information Architecture (EIA) team in Starbucks Technology is responsible for driving business value using a multi-disciplinary approach that includes enterprise information modeling, enterprise data vocabulary development, taxonomy development, ontology, and metadata practices.
This position contributes to Starbucks success by leading enterprise level data initiatives and introduction of new technology capabilities. The manager architect's primary role is to lead their team of data architects, taxonomists and data modelers and participate in the creation of usable enterprise level data strategies and roadmaps. Additionally, the role is responsible for coaching mentoring and leading their team to develop data architecture-level designs that articulate the strategy, roadmap and/or solution that meet the needs of a business strategy or problem.
As we continue to expand our scope of work in EIA, we are seeking a visionary leader who is excited to work with technologists, data users, and business users to mature our data literacy journey and enable our digital transformation.

Summary of Key Responsibilities Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:

  • Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in data policies and practices

  • Future State Planning and Road-mapping
    • Develops multi data domain and enterprise-based capability views and resulting strategies, architectures and roadmaps for business and technology capabilities
    • Advise functional and technology leaders in multiple data domains in defining priorities, key initiatives, and organizational alignment to support making informed business decisions
    • Maintain enterprise view of the data architectural components and technologies
    • Investigates and identifies opportunities across multiple data domains and enterprise to improve efficiencies and leverage company assets.
    • Evaluate industry and technology trends, determine applicability to Starbucks and translate into Starbucks specific strategies, plans, models, principles, architectures and designs
  • Concept and Business Case Development
    • Partners with business capability and technology service owners across data domains and the enterprise develop a concept from ideation through business case
    • Define data architectural vision, document dependencies, and estimate required investments to achieve ROI for data programs across domains and the enterprise
  • Data Policy Definition and Data Governance
    • Evaluate technology and business changes across multiple data domains and enterprise for impacts to existing governance policies
    • Manage data principles, policies, and reference architectures
    • Facilitates data governance and enforcement of an enterprise data architectures for multiple domains and the enterprise based defined principles, policies, and reference data architectures
    • Champion data policies and practices across multiple domains and the enterprise
    • Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in data policies and practices across multiple domains and the enterprise
    • Assess existing solutions and technology across multiple domains and the enterprise for compliance to data governance policies and data technology lifecycles
