Our experienced staff of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Specialists, Parent Partners and other therapists/counselors provide case management, mental health care and a range of support services in schools, homes or other community settings.  Our dedicated teams work collaboratively and in partnership with family members, school administrators and faculty, county social workers, case managers, probation officers and other agencies.

JOB SUMMARY: The LVN / LPT provides direct client care including the administration of medications, including injections.  Engages clients and families to assess and diagnoses physical health status.  Formulates and implements an effective nursing care plan understanding psychiatric illness and its treatment as appropriate for Scope of Practice. Demonstrates an understanding of age related development and other issues for the population(s). 

Experience with clients who are receiving psychiatric services is preferred. This position is in a day clinic setting assisting clients with psychiatric appointments and providing interventions to assist them with medication compliance and lessening of psychological symptoms. Position requires assisting with lab orders, constructing care plans, and providing educational groups within scope of practice to clients, among other duties as assigned. Some travel to the high desert community is required. 


Applicants must have attained the age of 18 years of age

Employment is contingent on:

  • Successfully completing a pre-employment Health Screening and a TB clearance

  • Receipt of “clear” or approved Live Scan results and Criminal Background Clearance


Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing or psychiatric technology required. Associate's degree, preferred.



One (1) year service experience treating the mentally ill in an inpatient setting, preferred.

One (1) year medication administration experience required.


License or Certification

Valid California LVN or LPT license.

Current CPR certification.

First Aid certification from persons qualified by agencies including but not limited to the American Red Cross.   


Specialized Skills

Ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with severely disordered
clients, staff of differing culture and social backgrounds, physicians and the public.

Demonstrated understanding of psychiatric illness and its treatment.

Demonstrated team leadership skills.

Knowledge of medications, especially psychotropic, and ability to obtain a passing grade in a Medication Exam.


Physical Requirements

Ability to visually and audibly assess client's behavior and needs.

Ability to stand for long periods of time preparing and administering medications.
