Our experienced staff of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Specialists, Parent Partners and other therapists/counselors provide case management, mental health care and a range of support services in schools, homes or other community settings.  Our dedicated teams work collaboratively and in partnership with family members, school administrators and faculty, county social workers, case managers, probation officers and other agencies.

Job Summary:


The Youth Counselor is the treatment team member who is responsible for providing direct care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the adolescents through direct and indirect physical and verbal interaction.  Duties are performed under direct supervision of the Program Manager and Shift Lead; some tasks are accomplished independently.
 

On-call: AM Shift S-W or W-SA

On-call: PM Shift S-W or W-SA

On-call: NOC Shift S-W or W-SA


Minimum Qualifications:


Education

  • Associates Degree and four (4) years' experience

       -OR-

  • Bachelor's Degree with no required experience

Experience

  • Above experience should be with socially and emotionally disturbed (SED) adolescents in a residential or outpatient setting.  This includes, but is not limited to, the following: probation, youth, mental health, and social services programs.

License or Certification

  • Valid California Driver's License, preferred
  • Valid California Class "B" Driver's License, preferred


Job Duties:

  • Supervise, protect, and care for children individually and in groups at all times.
  • Promotes and assists adolescents with self-help skills in the areas of eating, hygiene and grooming and other activities.
  • Assist children in working in groups and in handling individual problems.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and care of children, including assistance with activities of daily living, personal care, planned activities, and school.
  • Models and supports positive youth development and positive behavioral self-management through praise, attention, and use of behavioral incentive system.
