Job Summary

The Miner Corporation is seeking to hire a Cost Accountant – Inventory Coordinator to join our team and meet the demands of our growing business.

The office location is in San Antonio, Texas.

In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing and analyzing cost expenditures, inventory and other purchases within the organization. The cost accountant will review existing costing and inventory control processes, record data, recommend new cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options, and oversee inventory management. You will also work across teams to present and translate important financial information and assist in company audits.

Essential Functions

Support the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) & Inventory end of month closing/reporting process.

Train, coach and develop Miner location personnel on Perpetual Inventory Procedures.

Prepare monthly journal entries for end of month closing to support the COGS process.

Review Journal Entry's carefully for anomalies and other inconsistencies.

Conduct inventory reserve analysis on a quarterly basis and generate reports for management.

Analyze inventory usage to update min/max levels and identity obsolescence.

Assist the Cost Manager with suggesting changes to policies or procedures to improve costing, inventory and financial reporting.

Help develop new accounting policies, procedures and work instructions as needed.

Classify costs accurately in Subsidiary Ledger (SL).

Assist with audit requests from external audit firm.

Collect and compile purchasing data for analysis.

Generate Purchase Price Variance (PPV) reports and analyze findings.

Maintain and review the general ledger and reconcile balance sheets accounts.

Analyze costs of raw materials and other supplies and create cost-benefit analyses for changing vendors.

Carry out site inventory reviews and lead periodic cycle counts.

Profit margin review and monitoring.

Support the perpetual inventory system implementation project.

Develop the item master and vendor master as part of the perpetual project.

Support the perpetual inventory go-live events at different locations.

Interact with IT, Operations and Finance to support the inventory project and other cost related projects.

Identity and develop best inventory control practices and apply them across sites.


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required.

Minimum of 6 years' experience in general accounting and/or cost accounting.

Experience in service, sales and/or industrial industry is a plus.

Experience in a warehouse or facility a plus.

Excellent interpersonal skills is a must.

Able to build rapport at all levels, across the organization.

Ability to read, understand, analyze, negotiate and report on standard or complex information.

Proven ability to operate under stressful situations (i.e., multiple deadlines, multiple customers, and different conditions and formats of data). Ability to multi-task.

Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software; and must be able to easily use MS Office suite.

Advanced Excel user. Must have the ability to create, read and manipulate Excel spreadsheets.

Proficient and excellent English communications skills, both oral and written.

Willingness to perform some overtime, week-end or Holiday work to meet the financial close deadlines as established by the HQ organization.

Strong work ethic.

Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a sitting position up to 75% of the time.

Needs to move about the office environment to access files and company information.

Constantly operates machinery such as: Computer, Computer Keyboard, Calculator, Company Telephone System, Cell phone and other like devices.

May have repetitive movement of both hands.

Vision requires eyesight sufficiently strong enough to permit extended close work and normal color perception.

Hearing and speaking in order to exchange information.

Frequently communicates by phone, email, text or in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
