Position Summary:

The Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an ambitious Sr. Finance Analyst to join the commercial finance Team. The Sr Financial Analyst – Commercial, provides strategic partnership to the commercial operations team by designing and implementing initiatives to optimize business processes in order to deliver valuable market/business intelligence related to our non-direct sales (channel partners). The holder of this position will be required to assess and set up a proper analysis of our Channel business including but not limited to: a review of contract compliance, tracking metrics related to volume and discounting, preparing business reviews with our larger channel partners, and overall financial partnership with our Channel Director.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implement activities that support the strategies of the channel business including cleaning and understanding data.
  • Work directly with the CAD Division team as well as peers in other business units to drive profitability, customer compliance and market penetration.
  • Leverage historical trends analysis to provide direction for commercial activities related to channel partners
  • Develop & implement forecast modeling with insightful business intelligence to help identify opportunities and gaps within the organization
  • Liaise with the cross-functional teams to enhance and drive adoption of 12-month forecast
  • Support critical recurring and ad-hoc reporting and analysis to drive the business
  • Analyze internal / external information using data manipulation, correlation and statistical analysis
  • Participate in and oversee pricing and financial modeling around new/revised channel deals
  • Report on actual sales as compared to sales targets for volume and market share
  • Support regular internal & external business review cadence and establish proper cadence for channel business partners.
  • Assist finance teams with reconciliation of projected versus actual financial outcomes, identifying variances and documenting learnings
  • Drive key initiatives, process improvement and productivity projects related to channel business and ensuring benefits realization and tracking through appropriate KPIs.
  • Provide accurate financial records including forecasting and regional actuals.
  • Assist in monthly analysis and preparation of the Monthly/Quarterly Business Review package (MBR/QBR) giving further insight specific to channel business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or Business Administration
  • 3-5 years of direct experience in financial analysis, reporting, and accounting preferably within a large, matrixed organization
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, process good judgement, and prioritize projects and time effectively
  • Commitment to continuous learning, career progression and development, embrace additional responsibilities and seek opportunities to stretch capabilities
  • Ability to develop high levels of credibility and forge strong professional relationships with peers, and upper management
  • Excel expertise with advanced knowledge of pivots, charts, formulas and modelling along with ability to mine large data sets.
  • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management or other financial databases preferred
