Location/Division Specific Information

This position is part of the Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) and will be based in Franklin, MA. Our site produces air quality monitoring equipment, process monitors supporting plant efficiency, and product inspection equipment for the food & beverage industry.

How will you make an impact?

The Sr. Sourcing Specialist is a key member of the Sourcing/Procurement team in Franklin and will engage in strategic supply base development and supplier relationship management, specifically focusing on electrical commodities . The primary focus will be on developing a high performing supply base in this area with specific attention to improving and maintaining supplier performance in quality and delivery, achieving year over year cost reduction goals, low-cost region sourcing, and improving payment terms and conditions.

What Will You Do?

  • Commodity based materials leadership with focus on developing a predictive and consistent lean supply chain that supports operational performance as defined by Quality, Dependability, Speed, Flexibility, and Cost
  • Ability to develop and implement Core Competency Analysis within different commodity areas and implement a structured sourcing program for products within that commodity
  • Drive cost savings through supply base consolidation, contract negotiation, and low cost region sourcing where appropriate
  • Minimize working capital requirements by implementing agreements which incorporate VOMI (Vendor Owned and Managed Inventory) agreements.
  • Understand market demand and proactively manage supplier partners to meet customer demand while minimizing liability
  • Support the defined global outsourcing strategy by identifying preferred partners in different global regions
  • Ability to align commodity based sourcing management with site/divisional/corporate initiatives to deliver effective cash flow management.
  • Drive improvement to the Customer Allegiance Score by establishing flexible and agile supply programs and though lead time reduction and elimination of waste within the value stream
  • Execute a comprehensive analysis of market mechanisms, industry practices, cost analysis and other criteria utilized in making sourcing decisions
  • Management of suppliers within assigned areas of responsibility including use of lean sourcing principles, continuous process improvement and attainment of key business indicators such as on-time delivery, quality, and cost
  • Development and implementation of sourcing and supplier management strategies; management of contracts and the supply base for assigned commodities including inventory management with legal review as required.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and make sourcing decisions in accordance with sourcing strategies, negotiating purchase order terms and contracts
  • Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed with the Sourcing Manager for adherence to established standards and results obtained
  • Results are measured by improvements to quality, the cash conversion cycle, on-time delivery from suppliers, and sourcing savings
  • 10-20% domestic and international travel

How will you get here?

Education

• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing operations, business administration, operations management, purchasing, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

•Requires a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience preferably in a high paced manufacturing environment

•Ideal candidate has purchasing/ERP experience and demonstrated results in materials shortage management and inventory control

• Must have negotiation experience and ideally formal negotiation training

• Understands basics of financial and business analysis

• Understands and is passionate about scorecard and metrics-based approaches to supply base management

• Understands contracts and has led and negotiated various types of deals with multi-party stakeholders

• Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant year over year results
