Job Description

The Software Engineer will execute true end-to-end development and testing of software products in an agile lifecycle. Partnering with key technical and business stakeholders, the agile developer will help refine the product vision, estimate and design a solution, create, purchase, or customize the requisite hardware and software to create the solution, ensure the quality of the final product through manual and automated tests, and support the new software as it is moved to production.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.

  • Experience working with Spring integration with Apache Kafka / AMQP.

  • Experience working with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra. Experience with Druid / Yugabyte is a plus.

  • Experience building data API.

  • Knowledge of REST API design and specifications, building REST API with a tool like Swagger preferred.

  • Understanding and development experience with Microservices patterns like gateway, discovery, config and sidecar services.

  • Any hybrid cloud or public cloud implementation experience.

  • Containerization using Docker and deployment in Rancher/Kubernetes.

  • Working knowledge with Jenkins pipelines to build/update deployment pipelines.

  • Experience in working with a RDBMS like DB2.

  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases like Cassandra.

  • CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Fortify, Sonar, Blackduck.

  • Experience with Manual and Automated Testing, JUnit, Karate, Cucumber etc.

  • Experience with ReactJS to build modern web applications is a big plus

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent work experience

  • At least five years of work experience in Application Development/IT Systems Testing, and team leadership

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Advanced Coding Skills (typically Java or C#), including Version Control Systems and the Eclipse IDE

  • Functional Testing experience, including ability to create, maintain and execute both manual and automated tests

  • DevOps capabilities - containers, cloud, automation, security, configuration management, CI/CD

  • Strong communication/leadership skills

  • Strong knowledge in modelling and application design and architecture

  • Extensive programming knowledge

  • Expert knowledge in IT/Software quality assurance and system testing tools

  • Extensive knowledge in system/application testing and implementation

  • Strong understanding of Information Management

  • Experience in: Unit Testing (including automation and integration with CI systems) and Agile Software Development (typically Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)

  • Open, honest, collaborative and clear intra-team communication skills

  • Ability to work in ambiguity and iterate to a solution - can solve business problems without explicit direction

  • Creative, flexible, and willing to continuously change, evolve, and improve software development processes

  • Basic understanding of system and network architecture

  • Ability to identify, resolve, and retest defects

  • Expert skills in service virtualization, test case modeling, and test data management tools and processes

  • Ability to mentor more junior resources in technical and business topics

  • Ability to maintain and utilize CI/CD solutions, such as Jenkins and Maven

  • Ability to analyze features to deliver solutions that meet business needs

  • Ability to follow policy requirements related to documentation and other processes

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Time management skills
