Endoscopy Technician, GI Procedures, Full-Time, Hyde Park, Illinois  


We're hiring an Endoscopy Technician at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Hyde Park, Illinois!


Shift: 4x10's, Evenings


The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for assisting in the collection of data for an objective assessment to identify the patient's needs, problems, concerns or human responses. The Endoscopy Technician assists the M.D. as well as the RN (if applicable) in pre-op, intra procedure, and post-op. The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for assisting in procedure set-up, documentation of scope usage, pre-cleaning, transport, and other duties as assigned. The technician will also be responsible for procedures done in the inpatient setting and assist assisting in procedure set-up at the patient's bedside, and appropriate documentation of scope usage, pre-cleaning, transport.


Endoscopy Technician Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One of the following: Surgical Technician, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or experience in an endoscopy procedural area
  • Ability to read and write at 9th grade level, perform simple mathematical calculations, follow oral and written instructions, perform variety of tasks without direct supervision and perform duties requiring continuous physical effort.

Endoscopy Technician Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification from a recognized professional organization (e.g. SGNA, IAHCSMM, CBSPD, etc.) 


In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 40 hours per week.  We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the 2nd shift, from approximately 3pm-1:30am and  will not be scheduled for on-call shifts.  We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100% at the Hyde Park campus.  The days of the week that you are scheduled will vary depending on the week, but we anticipate that you will be follow the department self-scheduling format and be scheduled depending on department needs.
