Job Opening Summary

Administer, maintain and provide ongoing support for health care interfaces between Shands systems which use standard interface engines. Responsibilities include installing, monitoring, configuring, upgrading and patching Interface Engine software; gathering interface statistics for performance monitoring; testing back-up and recovery procedures; scripting; problem identification and resolution; and documentation. Assist in the research, analysis and recommendation of standards, procedures and new technologies to improve interface engine reliability, performance and recovery. Assess project proposals for compliance with interface standards, risk, implementation and ongoing support requirements. Must be able to meet proposed timelines. Perform the role of lead interface engineer for assigned projects. Organize and lead meetings. This position will be required to access confidential data in order to perform job responsibilities. On-call support responsibilities are required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in computer science or another applicable area of study, plus three years of relevant work experience required; however, an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree. Examples of relevant work experience include health care experience, project management, programming/coding and system implementation coordination.
• Three years of programming experience in interfacing data between systems, including the use of HL7, XML and other interface protocols, interface mapping, communications and networking protocols, preferred.
• Hands-on experience with the following products is desired: NextGen Mirth Connect, Epic Bridges, Epic Data Courier, Epic Interconnect, Epic Chronicles Programmer, Oracle, SQL, Operating Systems.
• Familiarity with the following products is considered a plus: Microsoft Office, Oracle Application Express, Java Script and Python.
• Must have demonstrated the ability to research, analyze and recommend new standards, processes or technologies to improve interface engine availability, performance or recoverability.
• Must have demonstrated the ability to define the scope, level of effort and implementation timeline for assigned projects.
• Must have demonstrated the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment to achieve corporate objectives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
