This job is responsible for acting within a team to design, develop and implement technical solutions to meet business partner needs. They must provide support of applications and technologies used in the daily activities of the Railroad. They investigate issues and research improvements to maintain technical solutions and will coordinate and ensure compliance with company best practices. The selected candidate will support the Positive Train Control (PTC) bases that provide communication to locomotive and wayside equipment. The candidate will handle the design, implementation, and long term support for all bases. The candidate will be working with RF and networking equipment and participating in industry coordination meetings. Along with PTC, the candidate will have the opportunity to work with teammates on other technologies, including: fiber, microwave, RFID, and Remote Control Locomotive.
Support the implementation, monitoring and maintenance of deployed systems ensuring systems meet reliability and performance goals Demonstrate subject-matter knowledge by troubleshooting existing technical solutions to resolve issues quickly and minimize negative impact Provide effective communication to keep customers and team members adequately informed Plan for future projects, request additional resources, manage budget and train and mentor junior team members Research, design, and implement telecommunication infrastructure to meet business customer's needs Provide technical direction to support teams and customers Coordinate and direct multiple teams to complete multi-million dollar projects Manage and maintain networking equipment and application specific products – including hardware and software solutions Perform other duties as assigned
