POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Activity Therapist will implement and develop therapeutic activities for all patients.  The Activities Therapist also monitors patient's progress during treatment and is an active member of the treatment team.  This position performs activity therapy assessments on all patients and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation; including, but not limited to:  

  • Evaluates all patients for therapeutic activities and implements plans as appropriate
  • Performs Therapeutic Assessments on all patients within the appropriate timeframe
  • Conducts group therapy sessions three hours per day or as deemed necessary
  • Interviews patients and or families regarding current and past abilities, interests, and professions
  • Assess each patient using the Clinical Dementia Rating Scale to determine their level of cognitive functioning on admission and discharge
  • Provides appropriate documentation on all patients consisting of activity assessments, daily group notes, and weekly activity therapeutic notes
  • Implements appropriate therapies from the treatment plan

Required Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of therapeutic activities that are patient specific
  • Knowledge of mental health treatment issues
  • Ability to work in stressful, crisis, or unpredictable situations and maintain a positive attitude

Required Work Experience:  

  • Prefer one year of work experience in psychiatric or geriatric setting

Licensing/Certification/Education Requirements:  

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school in social work or psychology (official credentials/transcripts must be available for verification)
  • Current State of Tennessee Driver's license
  • Current Auto liability Insurance according to Company Policy

Other Requirements: 

  • Position may require unscheduled overtime, week-end work
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours

Required Computer Software/Equipment Used:

  • Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Ability to learn HRIS and/or scheduling systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Job will require frequent lifting of objects up to 40 pounds

 Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Does not have direct supervisory responsibilities
