Under general direction of the Copy-Cataloging Team Leader, and working collaboratively with cartographic materials specialists in the library, catalogs and processes items in the Air Photo Flights Catalog. Other duties include the training and supervision of student assistants, expert querying of the collection, and general assistance with metadata management and metadata manipulation.


Minimum Requirements

Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS software;
Demonstrated knowledge of multiple formats of GIS data, such as Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR), Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), KML, geodatabases, or shapefiles;
Demonstrated knowledge of geographic and cartographic principles such as datums, projections and coordinate systems;
Familiarity with geospatial metadata standards, such as FGDC CSDGM or ISO191xx;
Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret classification systems;
Demonstrated map and air photo interpretation skills;
High degree of computer literacy and comfort in the digital environment;
The ability to independently learn new technologies and their applications in libraries;
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and staff;
Excellent organizational and management skills;
Superior attention to detail;
Demonstrated ability to utilize initiative and originality in solving problems;
Two to three years of library experience and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Must be able to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced academic environment

Desirable Requirements

Experience or coursework in map cataloging or metadata creation for geospatial data;
Familiarity with SQL or other querying languages;
Familiarity with archival photo handling;
Experience developing policies and procedures;
Supervisory experience;
Experience working in an academic or research library
