Description

Under the general supervision of the General Accounting Manager, the General Accountant 3 position uses in-depth accounting knowledge to resolve complex Financial Control account reconciliations between all UC campuses and the 2 UCOP ledgers (E and M). Analyzes problems using a variety of applications from multiple sources to determine solutions, ( i.e., Excel, PeopleSoft, EIA, Corporate Reporting System, etc.) . Collaborates Systemwide moving millions of dollars of funding. Independently performs responsibilities with a detailed understanding of significant processes, practices and policies. This position understands the Accounting Manual and Policies, and make decisions advising local campus and systemwide departments how to account for Financial Control transactions. This position is an experienced professional and technical leader in Financial Control for UCSB.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

-Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
-Thorough knowledge of accounting function and assignments. Ability to independently gather, organize, and perform accounting
related analysis.
-Excellent communication skills with proven ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally.
-Thorough knowledge of financial transactions and systems, as well
as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance
requirements.
-Proficiency in use of common desktop / web applications.
-Advanced knowledge of analytical procedures used in accounting
project of complex scope.
-Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with UCOP, other campuses and UCSB departments.

Desirable Requirements

-Experience with enterprise level integrated financial system such as PeopleSoft, Oracle Financials, and SAP.
-Understanding of Chart of Accounts at each of the other 9 UC
campuses, the 2 UCOP Ledgers, and UCSB's General Ledger.
-Familiarity with UCOP EIA System, UCOP Corporate Reporting System, M ledger.
