College/Department Overview:

The College of Business has 76 full-time faculty and 40 part-time faculty in 6 academic departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems & Operations Management, Management, and Marketing. The College currently offers 13 undergraduate majors serving more than 2,500 students, and 2 graduate programs serving more than 100 students combined. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.

The College of Business at the University of Central Oklahoma invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Finance. Position will begin in August 2020. Candidates will be expected to teach courses within the field and/or subfields of Finance using a transformative approach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in department and school-related service activities. Candidates are expected to have a balanced commitment towards teaching, research, and service. In addition, the successful candidate will be an active participant in the team implementation of a high quality IRM program, to partner with the Insurance and Risk Management industry in the region to accomplish this goal.

The Finance Department currently houses 14 full-time faculty members (10 Finance & 4 Bus. Law), and offers undergraduate majors in Finance, Insurance & Risk Management (IRM) and Business Law. We also support minors in Banking, Financial Planning, Real Estate and Insurance & RIsk Management. This is the only comprehensive IRM program in Oklahoma. The IRM program works with more than 50 companies in the IRM field. The IRM program has an active 30 member Advisory Board. Many of the IRM students are supported through donor scholarships.


Qualifications/Experience Required:

Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:

Applicants with a background in Insurance and/or Risk Management through either graduate (Ph.D.) education or industry experience will have priority consideration. Scholarly Academics (SA) in Finance per AACSB standards are preferred. Previous teaching and/or work experience in insurance or risk management is preferred. Ideal candidates will have a successful record of prior professional business experience and leadership responsibilities.
