Description

The University of Florida, Division of Pediatric Critical Care is seeking a faculty member to join an active and collegial group to serve as Division Chief. We are a vital and growing academic center with a 24-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit that treats children from birth to 21 years of age. With a catchment area encompassing North Central Florida and South Georgia, our PICU treats an average of 2,600 patients per year. We pride ourselves on our multidisciplinary team approach to caring for the sickest children and their families. The PICU team includes specialized pediatric physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, social workers, child life specialists, physical and speech therapists, and case managers. We also serve as a training site for the future generation of pediatric critical care physicians and operate a robust research program with multiple studies seeking to refine the best care for critically ill and injured children. We are a level one pediatric trauma center and work closely with nearly every pediatric medical and surgical subspecialty. There is full representation of all pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties, including trauma, burn and transplant. A separate 22-bed cardiac intensive care unit cares for children with congenital and acquired heart disease and is supported by the Congenital Heart Center. The PICU and PCICU support cardiac and non-cardiac ECMO and solid organ transplantation for heart, lung, and kidney.

The Pediatric Critical Care Division consists of eight pediatric intensivists, six fellows, three full-time and two part time advanced practice practitioners, and dedicated administrative and research support. Additionally, the Department of Pediatrics has a history of educational excellence and promoting research interests. The division chief will be responsible for cultivating an environment that advances the strong clinical, research, and educational missions of UF Health and the Department of Pediatrics.
