About this role:

The Lead Systems Programming Analyst leads the research, evaluation, design, development, testing, operational maintenance, protection, and support of UPS technology assets through entire mainframe life cycle. He/She leads the research, evaluation, design, testing, implementation, maintenance, performance and capacity tuning, and support of third-party infrastructures, applications, and appliances (i.e., transaction, collaboration, communications protocols, application delivery, virtualization, and directory services). This position leads the research, analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, and support of storage and backup recovery solutions.

The Lead Systems Programming Analyst is responsible for the research, analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, and support of an Information Services (I.S.) security model for UPS's I.S. mainframe environment.  He/She performs strategic planning, diagnoses risk and system issues, and takes corrective actions to ensure continuity of operations. This position leads disaster recovery tests. He/She identifies and implements technologies and processes to improve the reliability, efficiency, and availability of the systems environment. This position is responsible for duties of high risk, severe impact, high complexity, or large scope.

The Lead Systems Programming Analyst coaches team members to provide the tools and knowledge required for further development. Critical to maintaining and supporting our Mainframe environment. Hardware configuration and support including the design, install, maintenance of z/servers, LPARS, Coupling Facility, and server components (zHYPERLINK, zEDC, RoCE, HMC, Storage Class Memory, memory upgrades), DASD and Tape storage hardware, Brocade FICON directors and 7840 switches hardware. SME of the current Metro Global Mirror replication (DR) environment. z/OS and ISV software support (CA-PAN/SQL, CA-PanAudit Plus, ZSECURE Audit, Infosphere Guardium S-TAP for z/OS Data Set, RACF, Integrated Cryptographic Service Facility (CRYPTO)). Mainframe Hardware configuration and support including the design, install, maintenance of z/servers, LPARS, Coupling Facility, and server components (hyperlink, zEDC, RoCE, HMC, Storage Class Memory, memory upgrades). Install, coordinate all hardware firmware maintenance cadence. Hardware DASD storage configuration and support including designing and installing DASD logical configuration for the storage controllers. Support storage controller migrations for end of life replacements. Hardware Tape Storage configuration and support including designing design, configuration, and installation of the virtual tape libraries. Brocade FICON directors and 7840 switches hardware design, configuration and installation. Disaster Recovery SME of the current Metro Global Mirror replication DR environment. z/OS and ISV software support (CA-PAN/SQL, CA-PanAudit Plus, ZSECURE Audit, Infosphere Guardium S-TAP for z/OS Data Set, RACF, Integrated Cryptographic Service Facility (CRYPTO)).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Expert with Technical Knowledge of Hardware & Software, Z/OS environment, MVS/VTAM, MVS/JCL
  • Advanced experience with Mainframe Storage Administration, Mainframe z/OS Performance & Tuning, Project Management
  • Effective Communication, Interpersonal Skills, Organization and Planning, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Time Management & Prioritization, Risk Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a mainframe systems programmer
