A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Associate Product Manager aligns with the Product Management team and is responsible for product management, development, and marketing activities within the Valley Irrigation product line.  The Associate Product Manager must have the ability to plan, organize, and complete project assignments in a cross-functional team environment as a member of the Product Management team.  In addition, the qualified Associate Product Manager shall have knowledge of technology and software.  This role will work specifically with projects in the software and technology products line.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the Senior Product Manager and has no direct or indirect reports
  • This role requires up to 20% travel internationally and domestically, including overnight stays
  • Develop plans to drive growth of product line, including new product development support, product promotions, advertising, and competitive analysis
  • Drive sales for current products in the offering 
  • Support Sales, Customer Service, Technical Service and End Users through product knowledge and training
  • Prepare and present competitive product and pricing analysis to support the product line and market positioning
  • Maintain current product line including new additions as well as SKU rationalization in the light of changing market conditions
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of promotions and launch initiatives and recommend changes to meaningfully affect the impact of launches
  • Plan and execute marketing programs to achieve business objectives
  • Forecast demand with business conditions to insure proper service levels
  • Interaction with distributors, sales people and end-users to sense market conditions to trigger actions to achieve business objectives
  • Track business performance by total business, specific segment and new product sales by geographic area
  • Supporting efforts to identify and communicate to management non-compliance with the Code of Business Conduct or other violations of policy or illegal actions
  • Execution of control activities in areas of responsibility
  • Maintain the appropriate professional competencies
  • Be accountable to supervisor for responsibilities in internal control
  • Reading, understanding, and applying the standards of the Code of Business Conduct
  • Maintain the department informed of new developments

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Preferred Bachelors with 2+ years relevant experience OR Associates Degree with 4+ years relevant experience OR  6+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience using project management software, MS Project or equivalent software
  • Experience with Agile project management techniques
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the year
  • Minimum two years' work experience in a product development, management, or marketing role
  • Demonstrated product management and general marketing management knowledge
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment with multiple levels of employees
  • The ability to lead, use influence, and build consensus in cross functional teams
  • The ability to work quickly and efficiently with both domestic and international employees and dealers
  • The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Strong problem solving and project planning skills
  • The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, Technology, Engineering or relevant technical field or other Advanced Degree (MBA, MA, ME)
  • Experience developing, supporting or managing software solutions
  • Experience transforming customer needs and wants into development requirements
  • Understanding of user experience design
  • Work experience in a product development, product management, or marketing role
  • Product Management experience
  • An understanding of technologies that are currently utilized in the Valley product line
  • Experience with agricultural products

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting; however, incumbent is also required to go into the production or shipping/receiving areas. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and participate in meetings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee might be required to work in wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, with fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold or heat, and risk of electrical shock or vibration. The noise level in most of the plant area is usually loud.  Approximately 75% of the tasks are sedentary with 15% moving about the office and the production areas.  The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel and type. Reaching hands and arms above shoulder height while working in the office may be required. The employee needs to be able to move about the Valley campus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds in working with structures components and tradeshow displays.  A dolly is available for transportation of heavier items. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.  Travel requirements are up to 20% and involve overnight stays both domestically and internationally.
