With a tagline that reads, “Synergy of Water and Science™” and core service areas in water, agriculture, engineering, and environmental, Cascade Earth Sciences (CES) is in search of an Engineering Designer with an interest and preference to work in the water resource industry. The Engineering Designer will work with CES project engineers and other professional staff under the direction of a Registered Professional Engineer to develop engineering projects from initial scope through commissioning. CES' typical engineering projects include planning documents, designs, specifications, construction related activities, and commissioning. The ideal candidate will have a strong civil and mechanical design background with the ability to interpret complex technical design information. The Engineering Designer will be responsible for assisting CES professionals with the following;

  • Development of detailed design drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Development of design criteria, alternatives, and figures for written reports
  • Development of preliminary and detailed construction quantities and cost estimates
  • Observation and documentation of construction activities
  • Coordination of subcontractors (e.g., surveyors, geotechnical services, etc.) required for design information
  • Coordination of design and drawing sheet development for other design disciplines
  • Performance of environmental monitoring and reporting activities

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • An Associate's of Science Degree from a civil or mechanical design program
  • Knowledge of and ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings and specifications
  • Minimum of one year experience with AutoCAD
  • Computer skills with knowledge of internet and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook applications
  • Ability to delegate workload assignments to additional design personnel and oversee the quality and timeliness of their work to meet project delivery
  • Strong visualization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage schedule and workload to meet project delivery
  • Strong mathematical ability
  • Ability to help others learn
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Preferred Qualifications (Optional):

  • Professional work experience in a consulting environment
  • ArcGIS experience
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in an applicable Engineering field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Experience with developing hydraulic and hydrologic software models
  • Formal education or experience in Environmental, Chemistry, Soil, Geology or related science
  • Good Technical writing skills
  • One year experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D with project experience in grading, networks, and section profiles
  • Physically able and willing to travel occasionally (i.e., approximately one to two times per month) to conduct field sampling events outdoors including collection of soil and groundwater samples
