Clin/Tran Research Coord I (Pediatric Endocrinology)

Your Role:

· JOB SUMMARY: Full-time position at Vanderbilt University Medical Center coordinating behavioral interventions in pediatric type 1 diabetes. The coordinator will be responsible for administering and overseeing clinical research protocols, including data collection/management with adolescents and their parents, participant recruitment/retention, managing databases, and training study staff on protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Collecting and managing survey data, downloading data from diabetes management devices, and completing electronic medical record reviews.

· Frequent contact with families for study recruitment and activities, including by telephone, text message, email, and in person in outpatient medical settings.

· Developing and maintaining databases in Microsoft Excel and REDCap

· Developing and maintaining IRB protocols

· Training and supervising research staff and students on study protocols.

· Close coordination and collaboration with other study team members and Principal Investigator

· Conducting research literature searches

· Completing all required training modules related to the Responsible Conduct of Research (e.g., CITI Program training, Good Clinical Practice)

· The successful candidate will perform other duties as assigned


Position Qualifications:

Required:

· Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) and < 1 year experience


Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR): Prior to advancing to a Clinical/Translational Research Coordinator II, must have completed a Research 101 course such as RSS Boot camp



Preferences and Expectations

Prior experience with Microsoft Excel and REDCap experience preferred.
A college degree in a medical or social science field (e.g., pre-med, psychology, public health, sociology)
A minimum of 2 years of experience with clinical research.

Previous experience interacting with children and families and/or experience in health care settings as well as experience with culturally diverse children and families

    • Frequent: Noise: May include exposure to occupational noise levels which equal or exceed an 8-hr time-weighted average of 85 decibels, requiring enrollment in VUMC's Hearing Conservation Program which includes training, use of hearing protection, and periodic audiometry.
    • Continuous: Communication: Expressing or exchanging written/verbal/electronic information.
