Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire a Diagnostic Laboratories Team Leader (Supervisor), whom will report to the Manager of Specialty Laboratories in the VUMC Diagnostic Specialty Laboratories, and whom will supervise efficient integration and management of the team and operations to properly provide laboratory services. The Diagnostic Laboratories Team Leader (Supervisor) defines performance standards and manages operations to support consistent outcomes which meet or exceed quality standards. The Diagnostic Laboratories Team Leader (Supervisor) plans, coordinates and supervises the activities of personnel engaged in testing and implements new technology. In support of the MLS programs, the Diagnostic Laboratories Team Leaders enable staff to serve as instructors for the primary training of the MLS students.

- Manages daily activities and the team to optimize operational processes and meet quality performance standards within the Laboratory service, including special chemistry.
- Supervises personnel, selects new employees, assures staff are properly trained and meet competencies, identifies training needs, responsible for performance evaluation.
- Develops and implements quality control/assurance program, including appropriate proficiency testing and peer review standards.
- Responsible for maintaining all required activities and documents to assure compliance with both regulatory and accreditation standards applicable to this laboratory.

Education, experience, certification and license should be applicable to the specialty area or department as generalist or categorical. 2) If categorical supervisor license, then employee must serve as Team Leader for the specific lab defined by the categorical license. 3) Medical Technologist Supervisor license is not required for Histology or Lab Client Services Team Leader positions.2) Successful completion of CAHEA or NAACLS accredited Medical Technology program or BS from accredited institution with major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science and ASCP technologist generalist or categorical certification or equivalent certification; or equivalent education and experience per CLIA and TN Medical Laboratory Board (1200-06-01-.22)for personnel performing high complexity testing
- Medical Laboratory Technologist Tennessee Licensure. If not currently licensed, must have national MLS (ASCP) or categorical equivalent Certification and eligibility to obtain categorical equivalent Medical Technologist licensure in the state of Tennessee within 120 days of hire date
- Medical Laboratory Supervisor license in the state of Tennessee or eligibility to obtain categorical equivalent state of Tennessee Supervisor licensure within 6 months of hire date
- 5 years relevant experience
