JOB SUMMARY

The Imaging Patient Attendant, under the direction of the Imaging RN and the Director of Imaging Services, is responsible for providing direct patient care as defined in the Department of Nursing philosophy and objectives. The Imaging Patient Attendant will provide supportive care for inpatients and outpatients within the Imaging Patient Holding Room while awaiting a test be performed or transport to and from departments. The Imaging Patient Attendant performs a variety of duties and technical tasks structured to assist patients and other healthcare providers. These tasks are necessary to support the ongoing care of patients. When necessary to complete required job activities, the Imaging Patient Attendant may have access or be granted limited access to medication storage areas. No high risk or high diversion potential medications will be unsecured in the medication storage areas where non-clinical staff may be permitted.

Minimum Education

Certified Nursing Assistant Program and Certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing

BLS-Basic Life Support Certification required, but will provide training if necessary

Minimum Work Experience
3 years of successful experience as a Nursing Assistant in a general hospital preferred. Experience as a student nurse is an acceptable substitute for a Nursing Assistant Class. The student must have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing Care and obtained a Nursing Assistant Certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing. Certain certifications require additional experience for recertification. Previous experience working with behavioral health patients is preferred. Required Skills
Aggression management, patient hygiene, physical comfort, mobility, monitoring safety, feeding patients, obtaining specimens, obtaining accu-checks, blood pressures, vital signs, height, weight and other delegated tasks as allowed by the Maryland Nurse Practice Act.

MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK ADDITIONAL HOURS OR VARYING SHIFTS TO MEET THE OPERATIONAL NEEDS OF THE DEPARTMENT.
