Position Summary:Professional caregiver accountable for performing safe and effective respiratory care procedures in all areas of the hospital including ICU and ED. Exercises clinical judgment in assessing patients, recommending interventions to Nursing and Medical staff, and administer a wide range of therapeutic and diagnostic activities. Provides coverage of non-critical care patient areas and in critical care areas under the guidance of the charge/lead therapist.Education: Associates degree in a Board approved Respiratory Care Program is required. NBRC credential (CRT, RRT) may be a substitute for degree program. CRT is required. All new CRT hires must obtain RRT within 1 year of hire. RRT preferred. Licensure/Certification: Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Physician's Board of Quality Assurance of the State of Maryland. BLS-Basic Life Support is required, but training will be provided if necessary. NRP is required within 1 year of hire for all authorized hour positions.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time. Working Conditions: Occasional stressful periods in the form of high patient work loads or difficult procedures, but generally short in duration.
